If the plug is bad, why not replace it with a different type? I run a Champion in mine because I wanted a standard 5/8" plug socket to fit it. Bike runs fine, NGK or ND plugs are what all the Japanese built (in Japan at least, don't know about USA made Hondas) because they are readily available and made by the electronics suppliers.
If you want the factory plug wrench, you can have mine for the cost of shipping if you are in the USA. E-mail me if you want it.
Vent hose (non-wrapped) can go to the air box or into the frame top tube without affecting the bike. Make sure to hook up the spiral wrapped tube to the vacuum port on the left front of the carb. Mine has a tendency to fall off, as engine heat cooks the hose. Replacements are cheap, and can come from any parts store.
Enjoy the bike. It is fairly simple to keep running, and operating costs are laughably low.
